A few days into
the fast, it dawned on us that we were fasting at the
time our major fund-raising
mailing was getting to people’s homes. We hope you
got it, by the way. In case any of you tried it in your
computer and found it empty, it’s because it’s
a DVD and not a CD. If you have watched it and looked at
the booklet, or been following our letters, you know that
this is not simply a regular financial appeal. We are at
the awesome moment of which great testimonies are made.
We can’t pull ourselves through. Either God moves
on people’s hearts or we are without the ability
to continue to maintain the Worship Center in Tel Aviv. Will
you pray that this place we have dedicated to Him would
remain and flourish according to the purpose for which
He called it forth?

So there we are.
Our mailing is out. We are leaving for Germany. The preparations
for the Israeli
festival are underway and we are praying, fasting and seeking
the Lord as never before. As if all this weren’t
enough for one day, last week Yonit was diagnosed
as having a malignant tumor in her right breast. It
has spread into at least one lymph node and will require
surgery, chemotherapy, and possibly radiation and hormone
therapy. It is rated as being at stage two (four is the
worst). We were most definitely surprised.
This is probably a good place for a pause to catch your
breath.
The first thing we want to tell you, which is the most important
and far-reaching message in all of this as far as we are concerned,
is that when our reality so unexpectedly changed we were already
doing everything spiritual we know do in the face of such a situation.
If we are boasting, it is in the Lord. He got us ready. He stirred
us weeks before and got us in position to receive what was coming.
We got the news at 10 PM last Wednesday. By 1AM we were sleeping
securely in the arms of our Daddy. We are convinced that this experience
is not just for our benefit but that it is a prophetic call for the
body of Messiah to wake up.
The second thing we want to tell you is like the first. The
time is short. The light and the darkness will suddenly arise…together.
Press in now for the cleansing of your heart. If we are not living
holy, wholly to the Lord, when the prince of this world comes he
will come to our house and claim what belongs to him. Do
not think that you have even one more day to wait.
The third thing is that we have never been more secure
and at rest in our lives. By the light of eternity our days
have been filled with more of His Presence, more revelation of Him,
a clearer recognition of His voice, and a deeper abiding joy than
we have ever known in our years of walking with the Lord. (And today,
would you believe it, May 13th, just happens to be the 31st anniversary
of when arni gave his life to Yeshua).
The fourth thing is about what we have understood so far as
one of the purposes in the Lord’s heart as to why He has allowed
this trial to come upon us at this time. When we immigrated to Israel
twelve years ago, the uppermost burden on our hearts was for the
unity in the Body in Israel. Three years ago this burden took on
new dimensions and proportions as we went through the most dramatic
relational tearing we have ever known. Since then we have never ceased
praying that true healing and reconciliation would wash over not
just us and our estranged friends, but over the many brethren that
the father of lies and the accuser of the brethren has succeeded
in wounding and dividing. Within an hour of getting the medical news,
yonit felt the Lord said he would use this situation for the healing
of His Body in Tel Aviv. Without hesitation we both said it would
be worth it and considered it a high honor and a great privilege.
Since then we have received four confirmations from others, two of
them saying the Lord showed them He was going to use this for the
healing of the Lord’s body in the Land. We cannot tell you
how deeply hopeful we are at the prospect of true love and unity
breaking out in our midst. Years ago when we received the word that
God wanted, even needed, a permanent dwelling place for His Presence
in Tel Aviv, we understood that this was to break a demonic stronghold
that has kept Israel and the world in bondage to the divisions and
accusations of the enemy since ancient times. The magnitude of such
a thing is hard to imagine. The miraculous way the Center came forth
bore witness to us that we had in fact heard the Lord correctly.
Furthermore, the workings of the enemy and the breakdown in relationships
that happened in the midst of it all further confirmed that we were
right on track. Consequently, in the light of all this, could we
really think that this victory would come cheaply or easily? The
burden for the healing and oneness of the Lord’s Body is as
deep as any burden we have. If our suffering could in some way help
to accomplish this goal, then we are most blessed among men. For
what is the purpose of our life on earth other than to prepare a
place for Him to dwell among His people and receive the glory due
His Name, that all of Israel would be saved?
Perhaps as a final underscore of the level of battle, last July,
while we were in Germany for the first time, when the call and revelation
first began unfolding,
one of our team at home had a sense that there was voodoo being sent against
us. The thought was, at the time, unconfirmed by anything else, so we noted
it and went on. Last week, our friend Nita Johnson was here at the Center for
one of her regular seasons of intercession in the Land. When she asked the
Lord about Yonit’s condition, she received a clear vision of a woman
sending a voodoo death curse against “the wife of the head of the ministry.” Notably,
Nita happened to be at the Center in July when Shimshon got the first word
about voodoo. Isn’t God so good in the way He really does let us know
what we need to know? Knowing what was happening, having the nature of the
attack brought into the light, gave us the ability to stand against this and
break the curse. Do you recall where we began, a few pages ago, saying that
we were coming into a realm of spiritual activity that we were unfamiliar with
and, at that time, unprepared for?
When people ask us how to pray for us this is what we tell them. Firstly, pray
for us to have grace to walk through all the Lord has called us to. Second,
pray for the healing of the Body in Tel Aviv and all of Israel. Number three
and on is the same as number two. When this is accomplished, we believe that
the glory of the Lord will be able to come to our city. Who can fathom what
wonders will be seen in that day?
