You Dear praying friends,
Below are prayer points from one
of our friend’s ministry
in Israel. We have had to start using initials when writing
about people due to the circumstances in Israel with the
Orthodox Jews and the laws against proselytizing. If you
would like more information on the ministry or would like
to help them out financially, please call our office. Shalom
to you all and may He bless you for your faithfulness to
pray for His people.
Love, Rick and Cheryl
Prayer requests
- Please pray for the Lord’s
wisdom and discernment upon us regarding the piece of ground
for the new meeting
place. We still need a big portion of the requisite money
and are waiting upon Him. Meanwhile, the space problem remains
acute for the children and we are trying another alternative
for them outside - but the heat will make this option impossible
in the summer. Please pray for the DVD video and brochure
that we want to make about the vision that we received from
the Lord for our fellowship and the region.
- Please pray for the children’s ministry and for
the Lord’s guidance for the teachers. Pray for the
children that come from unbelieving families, who desire
to come to the children meetings but their parents are not
yet willing to give them permission. There is a shelter in
the city that could be used for the midweek childrens meetings
but the owner of the place is still hesitant to let us in.
Let us pray for the Lord to inspire him.
- We have a young lady in the congregation who is due to
give birth in October. The social insurance refuses to cover
her hospital expenses before December since she has a new
citizenship. Please pray for God to provide the amount of
$1,500 before her birth date. We have opened a small fund
to enable those who feel led by the Lord to help her.
- We still need prayer for the formation
of new home groups. The potential group leaders are not
ready yet and we need
God’s leading in the organization of the groups. Some
people are open to the gospel but would not come to the Scottish
church where we presently meet. On the other hand, they are
willing to attend a home group.
- God has given us favor with several intercessory small
groups and we are grateful to Him for this. However, one
of them dissolved as two members left Tiberias temporarily.
Pray that the Lord would open the way for them to return
to their call in our midst.
- Please pray for C., who has been diagnosed with a brain
cancer. We believe in a complete healing from God.
Meet our families
S. came back to the fellowship with his wife after two years
in alcoholism. His wife chose to bear with him during all
this time while his children had decided not to see him.
He went through many trials and suffered from his sin. He
had heart surgery and is still using a crutch to walk. Now
his children resumed their visits to their father. Let us
pray for him to be able to submit to God and resist the demons
of alcoholism.
D. & C. came from the USA a few months ago. They have
two daughters and live not far from Tiberias. God transformed
D’s life after serving in Vietnam and he is a good
help to the fellowship. His wife has a dance ministry and
she has the burden to teach others to dance for God. Please
pray for the Lord to use her mightily in the congregation.
In Israel
It seems that after 37 years the Jewish settlements of the
Gaza strip will be evacuated at the end of 2005, as the prime
minister forced his way through the cabinet coalition and
prevailed. Sharon fired the right wing party ministers from
the coalition and it is yet unknown wither the ministers
of the National Religious party will remain in the government.
This may well be the first step toward the formation of a
Palestinian state next to Israel and, more than ever, the
question remains relevant: who will rule there?
A TV program revealed this terrible record: Israel is first
in the western world for child violence at school. Several
children remain crippled or retarded for the rest of their
lives after being severely beaten and abused by other children.
Often the court releases the offenders without any punishment
and the schools remain dangerous for children. The following
news might explain the latter: a survey made in the Israeli
schools shows that the Harry Potter story book has now become
the most popular among children. But let us not forget that
prayer can change this situation and dislodge the spirit
of violence from the schools.
