suicide bomb explodes
Carmel Market, Tel Aviv at around 11.15am Monday
1st November.
Israel is once again mourning the tragic loss of life as a suicide
bomber exploded in the crowded Carmel Market just 5 minutes walk
away from Dugit and our offices at Esther House. Our staff were
alerted when ambulances and police cars rushed down neighboring
Allenby Street, sirens blaring.
The suicide bomber identified as a 16 year old from the West Bank
town of Nablus detonated a 5kg bomb murdering 2 women and a man
and injuring more than 30 shoppers and stall holders. The explosion
took place around 11:15am on Monday 1st November.
Israeli TV showed chaotic scenes as the injured were rushed to
hospital. Paramedics treated dazed shoppers on the ground amid
vegetables strewn on the pavement. Police searched waste bins for
further explosives.
Every Monday at around this time, one of our staff members goes
to the Carmel Market to buy vegetables for our staff lunch. Today,
he decided to go to a different place and was amazed when he heard
about the blast and realized how the Lord had protected him! Although
many of our staff shop at this market no-one was there today and
we thank the Lord for his protection!
Pray with us for all those who are mourning and suffering today
in Israel and for the security services that the Lord will direct
them to thwart other terrorist plots. Everyday the security services
receive general and specific warnings about terrorist attacks and
have been able to prevent most of them. Today, they reported 44
warnings of planned attacks but none specifically targeting Tel
Aviv.
Thank you for keeping us in your prayers,
The Lord bless you,
Avi and Chaya Mizrachi and Staff
